A chemical peel applies an acid solution to the skin to loosen and remove the damaged outer layers, prompting the skin underneath to renew faster than it otherwise would. It is one of the oldest treatments in aesthetics and still one of the most reliable for tone and texture.
The word peel puts people off, largely because of images of raw, shedding faces. Those are deep peels, and we do not perform them. Everything offered here is superficial to medium depth, which improves skin steadily with little or no visible shedding.

The peels we use
Peels start from £95. Which one suits you depends on your skin type, what you are trying to change and how much visible flaking you can live with.
- BioRePeel. A no-downtime peel that works without visible shedding, so it suits anyone who cannot afford to look flaky. Good for texture, congestion and dullness, and safe to use in a course.
- Mesoestetic. A range of medical grade peels that can be tailored in strength, including options aimed specifically at pigmentation and at acne prone skin.
- Obagi Blue Radiance. A salicylic acid peel that brightens and refines, with light flaking for two to three days afterwards. A favourite before an event, provided it is booked with enough time.
What peels are good at
What they will not do is tighten loose skin, fill a line or change the shape of anything. Where those are the concern, a peel is the wrong treatment and you will be pointed toward the right one instead.
- Dull, tired looking skin that has lost its brightness
- Uneven tone and superficial sun damage
- Congestion, blackheads and acne prone skin
- Rough or bumpy texture
- Fine surface lines, though not established wrinkles

Pigmentation, and a word of caution
Peels can improve pigmentation considerably, but they can also make it worse if the wrong strength is used on the wrong skin. Richly pigmented skin is at higher risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, where the skin responds to the irritation by producing more pigment rather than less.
That risk is managed by assessing your skin type properly, starting conservatively, and in some cases preparing the skin with prescription products for several weeks before the first peel. Natalja is a prescriber, so where preparation is needed she can prescribe it herself.
Daily SPF 50 for the duration of a course is not optional. Skin that has just been resurfaced burns easily, and sun exposure afterwards is the most common cause of a disappointing result.

What to expect
Chemical Peels step by step
Before and during your treatment
- A thorough consultation before your first treatment, during which your medical history is discussed and recorded so any contraindication is picked up before anything is drawn up
- Your lifestyle is discussed too, so expectations are managed honestly from the outset
- The procedure is explained clearly, step by step
- You and Natalja look at your reflection together, and she shows you how the result will be achieved
- Photographs are taken for your clinical record only, never used publicly without separate written consent
- You are made comfortable on the treatment couch and the area is cleansed
- You are shown the product, and the batch or vial number is recorded on your consultation form
- Natalja talks you through every step as she works, so nothing happens without warning
- The treatment is not painful. You may feel the insertion of a very fine needle
- Every effort is made to avoid side effects, and the possible ones are discussed with you at consultation
After your treatment
- Stay upright for four hours immediately after treatment
- No exercise for 48 hours
- No saunas, steam rooms or heat treatments to the face for 2 weeks
- No facials for 2 weeks
- Have treatment at least two weeks before a holiday or an event, so the result has time to reach its full effect
- Aftercare is discussed with you, and a PDF of the leaflet is emailed to you
- You are given the chance to look in the mirror before you leave
- A review appointment is made to check you have the result you wanted, with photographs taken for your record
What age can I have treatment?
We are aware of the power of influence and the harm it can do. We are happy to treat clients from the age of 21, provided we are confident it is in their best interest after a thorough consultation.
If Natalja is not confident about a request, we reserve the right to refuse treatment. We are sorry if that disappoints anyone, but the decision is only ever made for your safety.
Treatments that work well alongside
We offer a range of treatments that complement one another, including skin boosters to plump and freshen the skin, anti-wrinkle injections, polynucleotides, and dermal fillers for the cheeks, temples, tear troughs, lips, chin and jawline. That lets us build a bespoke plan rather than selling you a single treatment, and it is usually a combination that produces the result people actually want.
If you are looking for the latest and most trusted aesthetic treatments in London, Face Code Aesthetic is ready to welcome you.
Questions
Frequently asked
With BioRePeel, generally not visibly at all. With Obagi Blue Radiance, expect light flaking for two to three days. Nothing we offer produces the dramatic shedding people picture, because those are deep peels and we do not perform them.
A course of three to six spaced two to four weeks apart is typical, then maintenance every few months. A single peel gives a nice glow but does not change much lastingly.
Yes, with the right peel and enough notice. BioRePeel can be done close to an event. Obagi Blue Radiance needs at least a week. Two days before a wedding is not the time to try a peel you have never had.
Often yes, but it needs care and the right choice of peel and strength, because the risk of post inflammatory pigmentation is higher. Your skin type is assessed at consultation and sometimes preparation with prescription products is recommended first.
