PRP uses the healing and growth factors that are already in your blood. A small sample is taken, spun in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelet rich plasma, and that concentrate is injected into the skin or the scalp.

Platelets carry the signalling molecules your body uses to repair tissue. Concentrating them and placing them exactly where you want repair to happen is the whole idea. Nothing synthetic goes in, which is why it appeals to people who are wary of injectables generally.

Because PRP is prepared from your own blood, there is nothing foreign to react to.

What PRP can help with

PRP works gradually, by encouraging your skin to repair and regenerate from within. Rather than adding volume, it supports your own collagen production and cellular renewal.

  • Skin quality, texture and firmness
  • Collagen and elastin production
  • Fine lines and early signs of ageing
  • Dull or tired looking skin
  • Acne scarring and uneven texture
  • The delicate under eye area
  • Hair thinning, where follicles are weakening but still active

PRP for skin

On the face, PRP improves the quality of the skin rather than its shape. Texture evens out, the surface reflects light better, and fine lines soften as the dermis thickens.

It is particularly useful under the eyes, where the skin is too thin for many other treatments and where the complaint is often crepiness and a dull tone rather than hollowing. It can be used across the face, neck and decolletage, and combines well with microneedling.

PRP for hair

Injected into the scalp, PRP delivers concentrated platelets and growth factors around the hair follicles. It can support follicle activity, improve the quality of the hair shaft and encourage growth in suitable patients experiencing thinning.

It works best where follicles are still alive but weakening. It cannot bring back hair from a follicle that has already closed, so treating early matters far more here than with most things. Results also vary between individuals more than with most treatments, and you will get a realistic assessment rather than a promise.

What to expect

The appointment covers consultation, blood collection, preparation of your PRP and treatment of the chosen areas. Natalja is a registered nurse and the blood draw is the same as one at your GP, taking under a minute. Numbing cream is used where you want it.

Mild redness, swelling, tenderness or small bruises can follow and usually settle within a few days.

A course is normally recommended, typically three sessions a month apart, followed by maintenance every six to twelve months depending on what you are treating and how you respond.

What to expect

PRP Therapy step by step

Before and during your treatment

  • A thorough consultation before your first treatment, during which your medical history is discussed and recorded so any contraindication is picked up before anything is drawn up
  • Your lifestyle is discussed too, so expectations are managed honestly from the outset
  • The procedure is explained clearly, step by step
  • You and Natalja look at your reflection together, and she shows you how the result will be achieved
  • Photographs are taken for your clinical record only, never used publicly without separate written consent
  • You are made comfortable on the treatment couch and the area is cleansed
  • You are shown the product, and the batch or vial number is recorded on your consultation form
  • Natalja talks you through every step as she works, so nothing happens without warning
  • The treatment is not painful. You may feel the insertion of a very fine needle
  • Every effort is made to avoid side effects, and the possible ones are discussed with you at consultation

After your treatment

  • Stay upright for four hours immediately after treatment
  • No exercise for 48 hours
  • No saunas, steam rooms or heat treatments to the face for 2 weeks
  • No facials for 2 weeks
  • Have treatment at least two weeks before a holiday or an event, so the result has time to reach its full effect
  • Aftercare is discussed with you, and a PDF of the leaflet is emailed to you
  • You are given the chance to look in the mirror before you leave
  • A review appointment is made to check you have the result you wanted, with photographs taken for your record

What age can I have treatment?

We are aware of the power of influence and the harm it can do. We are happy to treat clients from the age of 21, provided we are confident it is in their best interest after a thorough consultation.

If Natalja is not confident about a request, we reserve the right to refuse treatment. We are sorry if that disappoints anyone, but the decision is only ever made for your safety.

Treatments that work well alongside

We offer a range of treatments that complement one another, including skin boosters to plump and freshen the skin, anti-wrinkle injections, polynucleotides, and dermal fillers for the cheeks, temples, tear troughs, lips, chin and jawline. That lets us build a bespoke plan rather than selling you a single treatment, and it is usually a combination that produces the result people actually want.

If you are looking for the latest and most trusted aesthetic treatments in London, Face Code Aesthetic is ready to welcome you.

Questions

Frequently asked

It is prepared from your own blood, so there is no foreign material to react to and no risk of allergy or rejection. The care sits in sterile technique and correct preparation, which is where a nursing background matters.

It works best on thinning hair where the follicles are still active. It cannot regrow hair from follicles that are already gone, which is why coming early makes such a difference. Results vary between individuals more than with most treatments.

It is a standard blood draw, the same as at your GP, and takes under a minute. Natalja is a registered nurse and has taken a great many of them.

Skin usually looks brighter within a few weeks, with the real change in texture and firmness at around three months as new collagen matures. Hair takes longer, and three to six months is a fair expectation.

Yes, and it often is. It pairs particularly well with microneedling, and it is frequently planned alongside skin boosters or polynucleotides. The sequencing is worked out at consultation.
