Reveal smoother, brighter and more refined-looking skin with our Diamond Microdermabrasion Facial, a gentle, non-invasive resurfacing treatment designed to refresh dull or congested skin and improve overall skin texture.

Using a precision diamond-tip handpiece combined with controlled suction, the treatment gently exfoliates the outermost layer of dead skin cells while lifting away surface debris and impurities. This helps leave the complexion feeling softer, smoother and looking instantly more radiant.

What it helps with

Diamond microdermabrasion can help improve the appearance of dullness, uneven texture, congested or enlarged-looking pores, superficial pigmentation and fine lines, leaving the skin feeling softer, smoother and refreshed.

  • Dull, tired looking skin that has stopped reflecting light
  • Uneven surface texture and roughness
  • Congested or enlarged-looking pores
  • Superficial pigmentation and patchy tone
  • Fine lines at the surface
  • Skin that feels flat under makeup

Why a diamond tip

Older microdermabrasion machines fired crystals at the skin and vacuumed them back up, which worked but was messy and hard to control around the eyes and nose. A diamond tip abrades directly, so the depth is governed by the practitioner rather than by a stream of particles.

It also means nothing is deposited on the skin, which matters for anyone who reacts to residue, and it allows the treatment to be taken right up to areas a crystal system has to avoid.

Nothing is left behind on the skin, and the depth is controlled by the practitioner.

How it compares to the other resurfacing options

This is mechanical exfoliation. A [chemical peel](/treatments/chemical-peels/) uses acid to loosen the outer layer instead, and generally reaches a little deeper. Neither is better in the abstract, and which suits you depends on your skin and on how much downtime you are willing to accept.

If the concern is textural scarring or established fine lines rather than surface dullness, [microneedling](/treatments/microneedling/) is the stronger answer, because it works below the surface rather than on it. You will be told honestly which category you fall into.

The appointment

Treatment takes up to forty five minutes. The skin is cleansed, the handpiece is passed methodically over each area, and the treatment finishes with a hydrating mask and SPF.

There is no downtime. Most people look slightly pink for an hour at most and then simply look well. Makeup can go straight back on if you want it to.

The treatment can be enjoyed as a stand-alone facial or as part of a course of treatments depending on individual skin concerns and goals. It is also a good preparation step before an injectable skin treatment, because it clears the surface first.

What to expect

Diamond Microdermabrasion step by step

Before and during your treatment

  • A thorough consultation before your first treatment, during which your medical history is discussed and recorded so any contraindication is picked up before anything is drawn up
  • Your lifestyle is discussed too, so expectations are managed honestly from the outset
  • The procedure is explained clearly, step by step
  • You and Natalja look at your reflection together, and she shows you how the result will be achieved
  • Photographs are taken for your clinical record only, never used publicly without separate written consent
  • You are made comfortable on the treatment couch and the area is cleansed
  • You are shown the product, and the batch or vial number is recorded on your consultation form
  • Natalja talks you through every step as she works, so nothing happens without warning
  • The treatment is not painful. You may feel the insertion of a very fine needle
  • Every effort is made to avoid side effects, and the possible ones are discussed with you at consultation

After your treatment

  • Stay upright for four hours immediately after treatment
  • No exercise for 48 hours
  • No saunas, steam rooms or heat treatments to the face for 2 weeks
  • No facials for 2 weeks
  • Have treatment at least two weeks before a holiday or an event, so the result has time to reach its full effect
  • Aftercare is discussed with you, and a PDF of the leaflet is emailed to you
  • You are given the chance to look in the mirror before you leave
  • A review appointment is made to check you have the result you wanted, with photographs taken for your record

What age can I have treatment?

We are aware of the power of influence and the harm it can do. We are happy to treat clients from the age of 21, provided we are confident it is in their best interest after a thorough consultation.

If Natalja is not confident about a request, we reserve the right to refuse treatment. We are sorry if that disappoints anyone, but the decision is only ever made for your safety.

Treatments that work well alongside

We offer a range of treatments that complement one another, including skin boosters to plump and freshen the skin, anti-wrinkle injections, polynucleotides, and dermal fillers for the cheeks, temples, tear troughs, lips, chin and jawline. That lets us build a bespoke plan rather than selling you a single treatment, and it is usually a combination that produces the result people actually want.

If you are looking for the latest and most trusted aesthetic treatments in London, Face Code Aesthetic is ready to welcome you.

Questions

Frequently asked

None. Occasionally an hour of mild pinkness, and nothing beyond that. It is one of the few clinical skin treatments you can have at lunchtime and go straight back to work from.

Immediately. Skin looks smoother and brighter as you leave, which is unusual for a skin treatment and is much of the appeal. The deeper improvements in texture come with a course.

Every two to three weeks as a course, then monthly for maintenance. It is gentle enough to repeat regularly, which is exactly how it is designed to be used.

Yes. It is often used before a peel or an injectable skin treatment, because clearing the surface first helps. It also appears in several of our [packages](/packages/).

Usually, and it is often the better option for anyone who cannot tolerate acids. Active acne, rosacea flares and broken skin are assessed first, and there are occasions when we would recommend waiting or doing something else.
